From the hotel, the route heads towards the airport, crossing through a detached housing estate after about 500 m. Once through the housing estate, the route follows a broad footpath parallel to a major road, then turns off ca. 1 km further on into a forest settlement. Taking a wide loop through the estate, then heading into the woods themselves, the route follows the course of a ditch as far as the Flughafensee. The lake is on the left while the towering white walls of Tegel prison are visible on the right. From here, the route re-enters the woods, the lake and the prison disappear, then, after a right-hand turn, it continues between the woods and a detached housing estate before skirting round the prison, following the major road again, and returning to the hotel.
