Rügen at any time of year
Imagine a lovely, cold winter’s day, with air so dry that you hardly feel the cold at all. You walk up to the water’s edge and are astounded by the bizarrely shaped ice formations, because the Baltic Sea freezes in the winter time. Spring arrives, and the forest floors are covered by a carpet of little blossoms. The days grow longer. The magnificent walks through stormy conditions are gradually replaced by balmy summer evenings. Summer requires no explanation: the very best of sunshine and hardly any breeze, making sporting activities a real pleasure. And then comes the autumn! Colorful leaves adorn the Rügen woods and beckon the wanderer to long, expansive walks, as do the now almost empty beaches. And glühwein, campsite fires or indoor fireplaces touch the romantic in all of us.
