3 Pass Road Susten – Furka – Grimsel
The 3 Pass Road over Susten, Furka and Grimsel winds its way in sweeping curves through hauntingly beautiful rocky landscapes past Aareschlucht, Innertkirchen and Steingletscher and finally reaches the Sustenpasshoehe summit at 2,224m. The journey continues through the long and narrow Maien Valley into the Urn Reuss Valley. The ascent to the Furk Pass begins in Hospental. At 2,431m, this pass is the highest of the three Alpine crossings. The Rhone Glacier forms a towering, glistening presence over the serpentines leading down to Gletsch. This is where the pass routes part ways, with the Wallis lying straight ahead, and the northern route leading to the Bernese Oberland via Grimsel Pass.
