Sights and Attractions
Bitburg country is known for its Bitburger Beer – and a brewery tour will allow you to take a peek behind the scenes to see how it is made. The distilling of schnaps also has great tradition in this area. Visitors are always drawn to the region’s many castles, the former Benedictine Abbey (Charles the Great’s favorite monastery), and the Pruem Basilica. The town of Speicher, with its proud pottery tradition, and Irrel, with its waterfalls and wild water rafting championships, are both well worth a visit. We also recommend a tour of the Daun maars, the Luxemburg “little Switzerland” region, the city of Luxemburg, Vianden, and the Roman city of Trier – the oldest city in Germany.
